Hi, I'm Colin.

I connect people to ideas through events, public programs, and design platforms. I do much of this at Works Progress, an experience design collective I co-founded in 2009. My partner, Shanai, and I write about the work we do at We Work Here. Please say hello at "colin.kloecker at gmail dot com" and also on Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. I'd love to hear from you.

Please take a moment to watch this video, created on a sunny Saturday afternoon by me and Colin and Shanai of Works Progress. I am happy to say I did the hand-lettering and the fake Mid-Atlantic dialect narration.

Then, think about whether or not you would like to spend a night on a riverboat in the Mississippi River with me and them and a few dozen artists, storytellers and scientists in early June. A riverboat that is stocked with a full bar, dance floor, installations created by artists from all over the country, a jug band, and piles of gorgeous printed matter by the great printmaking and design studio Landland.

If the answer is “of course I would love to do that,” then please consider kicking us a few dollars on Kickstarter to help fund the project. You can give us $25? We’ll save you a couple of seats. Fifty? Some seats and a print. Two hundred and fifty? A whole bunch of great stuff, plus I’ll cook you and your domestic partner a fried catfish dinner.

Tickets are completely free of charge. As Shanai says: “We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the Megalops, but to realize the full vision for this project we really do need financial support from people who can afford it!

Is that you? Please consider a donation — it all goes towards paying the artists for their contributions to this project.

Also: for $750, we will rent you a captain’s costume for the trip and you can do anything want. And I mean any captain’s costume. The Skipper? No problem. Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté? It’d be my pleasure. Chester A. Nimitz? Yes, sir. L. Ron Hubbard of the Church of Scientology Sea Organization? I will personally apply prosthetic makeup to your face so you look like L. Ron Hubbard, if you want.

If you’re living in the Twin Cities, mark your calendar for June 4-5. And if you’ve been considering a trip, there’s really no better time to do it.

Donate here!

We’re up to 14% of our goal! Who will be our captain?!
